Alas it didn't work for me. When you get the hero's POV and his suspicions about who the arsonist is, the heroine seems immediately less smart when she's suspecting the hero. If people keep referring to her as smart while you're thinking "Come on, clear the guy from suspicion and start searching for the real arsonist" the heroine starts to come off as stupid.

When she then proceeds to kiss said suspect (when she believes he just set her apartment on fire and left her a threatening note) you really wonder about what happened to professionalism. Or the whereabouts of her braincells. Especially because said hero has been behaving like an utter buffoon.

The premise sounded so promising - I really like stories dealing with grief. And firefighters can be awesome too.

I didn't get far enough to really disrecommend it, so no rating. It just didn't work for me.
