** spoiler alert **
Well, for the first 200 pages of this book I wanted to throw it against the wall. I really don't like Lisbeth all that much and the first 1/3 of the book really is just her wandering around buying furniture and having gratuitous (I thought) lesbian sex. Once Dag and Mia were murdered, however, Lisbeth vanished for a while and the plot picked up so I enjoyed it much more. The last 20 pages ticked me off again though. When she got shot and BURIED I was SHOCKED but I thought, wow, what a brave move on the author's part to kill her off...I didn't see THAT coming! But then she tunnels out of the grave with a hole in her head???? C'mon! I've seen more believable endings in slasher films. Still, I am hooked enough to probably read the final novel...not any time soon, mind you, but eventually. Especially since I know that it is the last one!
Oh and what the heck was all that in the beginning when she was in the Caribbean? I thought the couple that was introduced (the husband tried to kill the wife) would be major players in the plot but we never heard from them again! Do they show up in the next one? And if not, what was the point????
One other comment--and please, if you are reading this and had a similar thought, please let me know. What is it with "a sandwich and a coffee?" Do Swedes eat anything else? Every character at some point (and many of them repeatedly) makes himself or herself a sandwich and a coffee. With the exception of Lisbeth's frozen pizzas, this is all anyone eats or drinks and they do it constantly. Pasta anyone? Wine? I found it annoying.
