Queen of Shadows (Throne of Glass, #4)

Hello internet. Sorry I have been MIA for forever, but I have no school right now and I need to share my thoughts. On that note, I didn't enjoy this installment that much as the previous ones. I knew that Hire of Fire was going to be hard to top, being my favorite novel of the series, so I looked for the enjoyment of the novel then the content and character growth later. Even though I wasn't blown away, I found myself enjoying the story a lot more than I expected myself to. This story gave me the adventure and left me wanting more. I will continue in this fantasy epic with the rest of the 70% of Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ along with me.
*Spoilers from here on down*
The Content:The writing was the same as Maas has done in her previous installments: intertwining plot lines, and a dash of beautiful writing. There wasn't any new world building in this book, due to the fact that we are in Adarlan. But the events in the book and how they play out was interesting.
The Characters: Like Heir of Fire, this part of my review is a long one.
Ailen: Celaena is dead. It's Ailen now. At first is was difficult to see the difference in the two personas. But that one time where Ailen was Celaena in the mansion and was all furious and everything that I developed the reason that this assassin was feared. But who do I like more? Celaena or Ailen? Well, I have no idea. I this installment, I felt like I was experiencing both characters for the first time. Weird, I know.
Rowen: My bae. This ship is sailing and I couldn't be happier. I did say that I prefer Ailen as a brother sister relationship. Now I swoon over there moments and practicality rout for them to have a happily ever after. As for Rowen himself, he is one of my top 3 book boyfriends of all time. Enough said.
Aedion: In this book I found that he played the "Big Brother" roll rather well. My heart melted when they talked after Ailen rescued him. But, what was that anger and "she's mine" mentality? Due. Seriously man? I know she's your cousin and you though she was dead for the longest time. But just stop, please. Save us from the immateriality. But praise Jesus, hallelujah Maas fixed that problem.
Choal: What is wrong with you? Sorry for all of the Chaoleana fan out there, but I couldn't stand it anymore! You want to fight against the king, yet you are hating on a potential ally, while putting the fate of the kingdom into the fallen prince that's worse than his father because he is your friend. Where do your loyalties lie? Though I am shipping the new Captain of the Guard and him together. Come on know, I'm not that heartless.
Dorian: If you read all of my status updates while I was reading, then you have noticed that I shed emoji tears over him. I was so sympathetic to him. Having a demon posses your body against your will and slowly manipulating your thoughts to enjoy the evil that you are forced to witness. Poor baby.
Manon: I saw her as more of a mother figer in this book and I liked that. And the situation with the hybrid witchlings; freaky. BTW: I am totally shipping Dorian and Manon together.
And a shout out to all of the amazing, diverse, and well rounded side characters: Ren, Abraxos, and some of the other amazing characters that I can't remember because I read the book in September and I'm writing the review in December.
Dislikes: The lack of . . . feeling? I don't know. I just didn't feel the "magic" that was in Heir of Fire. It was a good story but it didn't supersede Heir of Fire. I guess I just am too in love with the previous book.
Likes: The badassery of Ailen, the Rowlen ship that is sailing, the Ashryver family reuniting, Dorinon, the assassinations. *sighs* This world; to think that it was loosely based off of the Cinderella tale.
All in All: Read it. Read it. The King is going to be defeated. Shown' how bad and strong is your book. It dose matter who's wrong to look. Just read it. (Sorry, I'm on a Michel Jackson high. I couldn't help myself.)
