Here in the time this book has been on my TBR list, it's been made into a movie. Someone here recommended this after I read The Help but hey, better late than never.
A book of the un-redeeming Old South (but after WWII, so it's not so Old at that). Goes to show what a woman will do without running water and electricity. Each chapter is headed by the narrator so there was no problem keeping things straight. A lot of foreboding and foretelling here...I think it would have been a stronger book without the intro chapter. But I don't need to tell Jordan how to write when 74 of my friends have given this a 4.15 rating.
