it was amazing
bookshelves: eol-book-club, classics

** spoiler alert ** I am almost done with the book. I stopped NOW for a few minutes just to take the time to write this review. Walter has just died and uttered the words 'The dog it was that died'. This is the last line of Oliver Goldsmith’s poem “An Elegy on the Death of a Mad Dog. I have yet to find the poem but did find this paper written about the book:

...

I frequently do google searches when I read a particular book, especially if it is a classic like The Painted Veil. So... I thought I would share this with the readers of this review.

I read this book because of a group challenge in one of the GOODREADS groups I belong to. Isn't it amazing about these challenges? I would have NEVER read this book if I did not need satisfy a challenge requirement.

Here I sit with tears of emotion in my eyes... tears of sorrow for both Walter and Kitty. The back cover of the book states that the book '... is a beautifully written affirmation of the human capacity to grow, to change, and to forgive'. With this statement I heartily agree.

I saw that movie not too long ago.

Maria Espadinha I also enjoy reading your reviews, my dear Celia
What you write always comes from the heart
And I also agree with that statement you found in the back cover. It certainly captures the soul of the book 😉
