** spoiler alert **
I liked the series, until the end. OBVIOUSLY, the book was not going to end with Malone taking over the whole council and Faythe losing. The good guys always win- duh. So, I was hoping the love-triangle might bring some unpredictable aspect into the plot. But, no. Instead of choosing the sweet, caring Jace, stupid Faythe chooses the almost-abusive Marc. Yeah, Marc- the guy who doesn't slam doors when he's angry, he breaks them. Marc, the guy who had sex with Faythe, dumped her on the barn floor, and COMMANDED her not to take a shower so she would smell like him. Yeah, good choice Faythe!
I felt like choosing Marc was such a weird choice. The reason I feel in love with this series, is because Faythe was presented as a strong women, with a mind of her own. But, as the series progressed I felt like Faythe lost more and more of her independance and Marc became even more controlling. I also felt like towards the end Faythe acted bratty. Her father is dying on the couch, and what does she say? She talks to him about her love-situation! Not "Daddy, I love you thank you for being there for me" or anything like that. Noooo she discsses her love life. Nice. Anyway, I still gave this book three stars because, over all, it was a good series. I'm just disappointed with the oh-so-predictable ending. Good guys win, girl falls in love with boy. Just once, can I read a book where a female decides she doesn't need a man in her life 24/7? Sheesh.
