5/5 stars. I read this book a for a second time, just before I saw the movie. To be honest I think the movie ending made it much happier and I liked that a lot. However, one of my favorite things about the book is the pact they make about graduation, and I'm sad that they didn't include that in the movie.
But this is about the book. Not the movie. So moving on:
I was really annoyed by Ben. I was last time too and I probably will be any time I read this in the future. BEN, IF YOU CALL GIRLS LITERALLY ANYTHING BUT "HONEYBUNNIES" I MIGHT LIKE YOU. STOP IT.
Part 1 was amazing to me. Absolutely mind blowing.
Part 2 was less amazing. I found myself not enjoying it because not a lot was happening. Yes there is major plot development happening, but I even made a deal with a friend that if I didn't finish by a certain time, I'd skip whatever I had left. I finished.
Part 3 was just as amazing as the 1st. I love that you feel rushed while reading it, because that's exactly how you should feel.
The end was a little anticlimactic. And it made me sad. But obviously not in a /Looking for Alaska/ or /TFIOS/ kind of way, obviously.
I still lived the book. The first time I read it I gave it 4 stars. There are many things I liked more this time, but also some things I liked less. But whatever. I'd read John's grocery list if he'd let me. Very very recommended. Watch the movie afterward.
