ALL THE STARS!!! 5 is not enough - SERIOUSLY.
Every once in a while a book comes along and it just knocks you off your feet and you want to scream from the rooftops - READ THIS BOOK!!!
I don't know if I can fully express my thoughts properly when it comes to reviewing this book. I am in LOVE with this book. If you LOVED ACOTAR, you will LOVE this one more. If you thought ACOTAR was just MEH, I guarantee you will LOVE this one.
***SPOILERS***
This book starts off with Feyre dealing with everything that happened under the mountain in the end of ACOTAR, she has some serious PTSD. She is coping, but barely. She is just going through the motions day to day. She is just holding on to any good moments that come her way. Tamlin says to her that he just wants to keep her safe, he loves her and she loves him but she wishes he could see the pain she is in. Waking up every night from nightmares, getting sick, barely eating. She is screaming for help and he isn't seeing or wanting to see any of it.
Then on Feyre and Tamlin's wedding day, while Feyre is walking down the isle panicking about what is about to happen. Rhysand appears to have Feyre comply with the bargain they made. She is to go with him for one week a month to live in the Winter Court. At first she is so mad, she screams and yells "take me back!" But Rhysand just leaves her alone with her own thoughts and gives her time. Over the weeks he teaches her how to read, lets her slowly use her new powers and let's her discover who she is and what she can become.
Tamlin is obsessed with keeping Feyre safe and doesn't want anyone to know about her new powers, he constantly tells her to not use her powers and wants her indoors where no one can see her. Then he does the ultimate and traps her in his house, she panics and sends Rhysand a plea to save her through their bond.
Feyre grows so much while living in the Winter Court, she meets Rhysands trusted friends and I love her friendships with each of them. They all trust her because Rhysand completely trusts her.
I could go on and on about how much I love this book, the bond between Feyre and Rhys is amazing and I live the slow burning connection that they have. He always lets her discover things about herself and never holds her back. He is never controlling in any way. She is so hesitant to like him because she feels she is betraying Tamlin. She still finds herself wanting Rhys, and is attracted to him. Then chapter 55 comes along and .... I LOVE LOVE LOVED IT! It was perfection.
I knew things were not going to go perfectly when the went into Hybern, I was expecting something to go wrong but I absolutely didn't see Tamlin being the one to betray her and turn her over to the king. Those last few chapters had me on the edge and I couldn't read fast enough. Feyre's sisters being brought in and then the King used the cauldron to turn them into fey. Lucien realizing that one of Fryre's sisters is his mate. Feyre pretending that the King broke her and Tamlins mating bond, so that Tamlin would think it was all some spell Rhysand had her under .... It was all perfection and I absolutely cannot wait for the next book to come out!!
