This was a fun, sexy, quick read with some refreshingly original details.
Mira is a waitress six months out from her messy divorce. Her parents are long dead and she was raised by her godmother, Annie. According to her parents' last wishes, she was raised in ignorance of her true heritage: she is a witch, powerful in the element of air, the rarest of the four elements.
Then handsome fire witch Jack McAllister comes crashing into her life, rescuing her from an attempted abduction by warlocks (witches twisted by power and greed who kill witches in order to summon demons), and taking her to his apartment until it's safe to move her to the coven in Chicago. Their attraction to each other - air and fire being complimentary - is strong and they both struggle to resist it. Jack especially, who knows she'll hate him once she finds out about his past.
I'm a big fan of stories about elemental magic, and I like the new take on witches. It's a similar set-up to Jacquelyn Frank's elemental demons, but the witches and warlocks are mortal and don't have any soulmate issues. As such, the growing attraction between Mira and Jack is very human and intense, and the sex is very passionate and written in a refreshingly non-corny, non-wishy-washy way. Highly recommended to lovers of paranormal romance.

Just wanted to let you know I bought "Witch Fire" today (grin). Got an email yesterday that Waldenbooks is having a "Buy 4 Romance Novels, Get the 5th One Free" sale right now, plus they sent me a 25% off coupon on another book. The manager at my local Waldenbooks is a good Witch friend of mine, and her bookstore also sells my novels.
So I love having an excuse to go see her and shop (big smile). I bought two more of Feehan's Dark books and two of Susan Sizemore's and this one. I plan to read WF after I read Feehan's "Dark Magic." It is supposed to tell the story of Gregori, and he is the one I like best. I'll let you know what I think about WF when I read it. Big fun! Thanks for telling me about it. :)
Anyway, I just created a blog with free sample chapters on it from the first novel in my Witchery series (urban fantasy/paranormal romance) called "The Witches of Dixie." Check it out when you get a chance at
All the novels in my Witchery series contain real spells, chants, and rituals. Enjoy! :)
