Never Let Me Go

This book has a very interesting premise, but, like in "Remains of the Day" I found it to be a bit tedious sometimes. Ishiguro is an award-winning author, so I guess I'm just missing something in that I don't really get what the hype's about with him. At least in this book, the story was interesting enough to keep me reading.
**minor spoiler ahead**
I wanted to know so much more though. I didn't understand how the carers especially could be so sheeplike. Why didn't they ever try to run away? They've got cars and little or no supervision. They've seen their future so why are they just willing to wait around for it. Strange. And, instead of asking for a deferment, why didn't people try to "escape" at that time? What happened to Ms. Lucy? I know, it's silly to question but these are just some of the many questions that I had left unresolved.
