For anyone who enjoys supernatural fiction, this is a great read. I'll be impatiently waiting for the sequel's release next year.

I stayed where I was, staring into a vampire's eyes. Matthew waited, utterly still, watching me watch him. When I sat up, the room spun at the sudden movement of blood through my body."

It was not a question at all, but a single word like "water," or "absence." It was up to the candidate to decide how to respond, and only the most brilliant answer won you a place at All Souls. "Desire," he said, studiously avoiding my eyes."

Matthew struggled with something and left it unsaid. Wordlessly he walked toward the door into the hall. When he reached it, he gave me a long look of snowflakes and frost before walking through."
