MUDBOUND was truly a gem of a book. It was one I first noticed when I was working at KPL and I even had it on hold to read for awhile, but never got around to it. I recently decided to give it another try--only this time as an audiobook during my long commutes to school. Jordan's novel centers on two families in the Delta right after WWII--one white and one black. Their lives are intertwined and love, friendship, and tragedy ensues. If I had been reading this book, it would have kept me up all night. Each character has a different take on the events that happen and each story is compelling. If you liked THE HELP, you may like MUDBOUND.
