The Dance of Genghis Cohn

The first 90 or so pages were riotously funny, but most of the rest of the novel was a slog of abstractions. There were a few interesting theories on art, identity, literature, and mortality to be gleamed, but it was such a drastic tonal break from the rest of the book that wasn't well executed that it detracted from the entire read. The ending was well-done metafiction, but it didn't make up for so much of the rest of the text.
