I admire Lerner's work. This book is smart and experimental, a bold project. As both poet and prose writer, his facility with language is very impressive. But I never really connected with the book. (Too meta? Too Brooklyn writer?) I wanted to. I never thought I'd say this, but I longed for a little more plot.
