This book is fantastic if your into space and science you'll fall in love with this book and its character Mark Watney and he has that comic sense of humour that keeps you interested and engaged in the story even the parts where mark is talking about the science he is going to do to survive because of how well written his character is that even though you have no idea what his talking about you still sit there and think of yeah tell me more like his your best friend or crush. and you start you to have feelings and hoping that his going to be OK and if his going to escape Mars or will he have to stay and live there till the next team comes in 4 years.
i have to be a stick in the mud and be that guy who says "well in the movies" (he says in a winy voice) but one thing they left out in the movie are marks oxygen filters and how that he had to conserve his travels outside and i see why they left that out of the film but i just wish that they kept it in would of added in that little extra immersion.
one thing i have to love about this story is just how it begins one of the best opening to a story ive ever read and showed me from the beginning how much fun i was going to have and i quote
"LOG ENTRY: SOL 6
I’m pretty much fucked. That’s my considered opinion. Fucked. Six days into what should be one of the greatest two months of my life, and it’s turned into a nightmare. I don’t even know who’ll read this. I guess someone will find it eventually. Maybe a hundred years from now. For the record…I didn’t die on Sol 6. Certainly the rest of the crew thought I did, and I can’t blame them. Maybe there’ll be a day of national mourning for me, and my Wikipedia page will say, “Mark Watney is the only human being to have died on Mars.
and i have a hard feeling that any book that i will ever read in the future will ever beat that opening.
