** spoiler alert ** "Sometimes an unexpected wave comes along, sucks you up and refuses to spit you back out"

I went reading this book with barely knowing what it was about and I don't regret a thing. Let me get something out first, we all know that Colleen's books have that special something, and that is that she always gives you some reality, it feels real and it is actually what some people go through (we got to see the authors note and let me just say that I was in tears) but this book was the most real out of them all. Its all in one, love, hate, pain, relief, anxiety, honesty, distrust and so much more is what you can feel just by reading this amazing book.

I don't really know how to express my feelings in order for anyone to be excited before reading this book, so I'm just going to be truthful. This book is the ugly truth that most women face, an abusive house, a get away that feels uncertain, someone who gives your life something to look after, the sense of helplessness.

This character, Lily, is such an empowering young child who finds herself in the worst case scenario where she cant get away because she is just a kid after all. Then she she gets older and finds herself in the same position but slightly different because this time she gets why that percentage of women made those poor decisions. To find this amazing person who made you feel emotions that you thought were dead gone, to find that person who you feel perfectly comfortable with, who you want to spend the rest of your life with and just to find out he is what you fear and hate the most.

Lily finds herself in a predicament that she could have never understand, this is something important about this book and something so raw and honest. It is easy to talk and make a decision if you are not in that place and this book gives you an idea of what can go through these women minds. I think the most hurtful aspect of the story is not Atlas because they made everything they wanted out of their lives but how Lily and Ryle loved each other, how they felt for each other but this little thing that was so much more powerful than him.

I felt bad for Lily's life when she was a child, I felt bad for her mother, for Atlas but I also felt bad for Ryle because we kind of got to see his character, his true self in all ways possible and I believe that he truly didn't want to hurt her, he had problems of his own and couldn't control them, sadly. Thats what bothers me the most, to know that there was love and that it couldn't go anywhere else because of something they couldn't get a handle of. That love could not be saved.

I think it was perfect how Colleen portrayed the story, nothing was out of character, Lily did what most women would've done and finally made the right decision for her, for her child and for him as well.

SO ATLAS, this book really isn't about their love story even though it is very powerful, I found myself scared by the last chapter or could I say by the last two pages because there was no Atlas by the end but they made it, they were prepared and it was the right time for both of them.

DEFINITELY MY FAVORITE BOOK OF COLLEEN!!

My review won't give it what it deserves so go and read it!
