Hard to understand what all the hoopla was about this book. Though somewhat shallow to my thinking, it was engrossing enough to be depressing. The character development was good and narration excellent. The plot was as simple as a plot could get and, except for the escape, not terribly exciting. In thinking of anyone I might recommend this book to, I can think of no one. I cannot even begin to imagine what people saw in this book.
