The Kite Runner

you know for all the hype this book got, and despite the fact that I read it quickly and was totally engaged in it, I really hated it. by the end I felt emotionally exploited for no particular reason, as in for no purpose. the power that Hosseini could have weilded in this - to humanize afghanistan & her people - was wasted. he goes too far, so that I remember this is fiction and do not make any meaningful connection with the story or the characters. grrrrr. a much better book: An Unexpected Light, by jason elliot
