Awesome--

A grande finale is more like it. I compared some chapters and passages with the English translation, but found the latter wanting. That may have something to do with the fact I didn't rate it as high five years ago; or it may have to do with how much I can read better now. Who knows, but this was a ripping good read, bar some chapters that were slow going, such as Mei's letters. Overall though, it delivers a gripping story that's pretty un-put-down-able.

While Murakami usually ends his novels in a way that makes you say, "huh?" this novel is different. It has a clear ending--though some mysteries aren't solved (who is that man without a face? Or where is that hotel?)--and I walked away from it satisfied.

Highly recommended.
