The Nix

What a waste. Filled with chapters that are unnecessarily long. The flashbacks, for example, just drag on and do little to make me care about the characters or the story.
The book jacket promises "sharp humour" which is just too generous since the 'humour' often seemed childish.
Some books that are long and much-too-drawn-out-to-be-interesting are saved by beautiful prose but unfortunately for Mr. Hill his felt basic and unexceptional.
