A beautifully written book about an ugly topic. Chapters were narrated by different characters, very effectively. Most of the characters were sympathetic, with one or two major exceptions. The author put me right there in the delta, in the rain and mud, wondering how people can treat their fellow man in such a way. Masterful! Four-and-a-half stars.
