I really should be giving this book 5 stars because I could not put this darn book down even though I did find the ending a bit disappointing. I'm just happy to have finished it so I can get my life back.

Baldwin really has an amazing insight into the human heart and mind. This is not a typical love story although it is about relationships. He takes love, sex, race and alcohol and puts it in a blender and calls it life, which I believe is where his brillance lies. Relationships are complex, not always nice and sometimes just mean. In this book you'll get it all and he is great at it.

If you are a hopeless romantic and looking for your warm and squishy happily ever after novel... run away! The theme song for this book should be "What's love got to do with it!"

I'll keep reading Baldwin because he is addictive.
