it was amazing

Absolutely loved it! I loved the way the story was told between three characters. Minny was my favorite. She was a tough character, but yet a gentle soul. Some of the things that came out of her mouth were hilarious. Although, I don't know if I'll ever be able to eat a piece of chocolate pie again! Aibileen & Skeeter were great characters too! I despised the character Miss Hilly. What an awful woman! It was sad to see how much control she had over some of the other women and how they would keep quiet and do what she said. This story really makes you think of how people treat others they deem "different" or beneath them. How sad that people could be so narrow minded. One of the saddest things was how the black women were pretty much the ones to raise the white women's children, but not be allowed to use the bathroom in the house or be treated with an ounce of respect. How the children thought of these women more as their mother than they did their own biological parent, but as they grew older began to treat the help the same as what they learned from their parents and society. In many cases, they may have even taken over as their boss. It is very sad to think that many of these things happened in the South before the Civil Rights Movement. I think this book should be added to high school reading lists. It could really open the eyes of teenagers who think they have it so bad. I am looking forward to this movie coming out in August. I just hope they do the book justice!

Mary Dawn, I couldn't agree with you more. I grew up in the 50's and 60's, but not in the south, thank God. I didn't see much of the things that happened in the south happen here in Pa, but I am sure it did.

I grew up in a neighbor with a mixture of different nationalities and cultures. I remember getting along with everyone and not treating someone different because of the color of their skin.

This book should be read by all ages, colors and nationalities.

The movie was just as great as the book. I am so glad that they didn't ruin it by changing anything. There were somethings that they left out that I feel should have been in the movie, but thankfully they kept true to the storyline.
