Madeline's life is summed up below:
description

This book has an M. Night Shyamalan twist!! I gave this four stars because at first, I was a little over the plot that I thought resembled Fault in our Stars with the same exotic trip thrown in, but then BAM- totally not what I expected! I want to reread it knowing the ending to see if I pick up on any foreshadow.

I started reading this book because it is being made into a movie. I REALLY HOPE THEY MAKE NICK ROBINSON WEAR BLUE CONTACTS! The metaphor of Olly's blue eyes being an ocean that is endless... that is a large part of the book so I hope they buy him some contacts.

The diagrams in this book, done by Nicola Yoon's husband, David Yoon, add so much to the novel. I loved all of them.

My favorite quotes/diagrams:
"The problem is chaos theory. There are too many inputs to the formula and even the small ones matter more than you think."
"Find Z in the following equation: X+Y=Z Where X is unknown and unknowable, and where Y is unknown and unknowable"
"Asymptote: A wish that continually approaches but never achieves fulfillment."
"Promise: The lie you want to keep."
"I'm trying to put myself in her shoes, playing games not of cause and effect, but of effect and cause."

I may have to go back and give this book 5 stars. I really did love it. But.. I sometimes cringe at how intense the love is between two teenage characters. So I'm biased. GO READ THIS! It made me tear up on the end; it's an emotional rollercoaster and you won't be sorry that you read it.
