“It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends.

So, most of you will already know who Harry Potter is.
As Professor McGonagall once said:
"He'll be famous - a legend - I wouldn't be surprised if today was known as Harry Potter Day in future- there will be books about Harry - every child in the world will know his name!"

Just in case you don't, though...
Voldemort was a very, very bad wizard, who caused mass death and destruction.
One night, he goes after the Potters, killing both Lily and James, a husband and a wife, as well as a father and a mother.
He then proceeds on to killing their then one year old baby, Harry.
But... Something goes wrong.
Harry lives, and Voldemort disappears.
Now, without a father and a mother, Harry is deposited with his non-magical, mean, and very ordinary aunt and uncle and their baby boy.
He is raised not knowing the truth about his origins, and endures ten years of a life without love; until one day, a certain letter arrives, opening him up to a new world full of new friends, adventure, danger, and magic.

Harry Potter is a truly magical piece of work.
I am in no way a supporter of witchcraft, mind you, I'm against it, but this story is one of my favorites.
Ms. Rowling's writing transports you to a whole 'nother world.
Seriously, it sucks you in. The only reason I paced myself was because of a buddy read.
Speaking of which, buddy read this with Marie and Anak.

So, this is my second time reading this, and, since the first time was before I had a GR account, it's time I wrote a good review for this.

Being a re-read did not really change the experience. Sure, I know what lurks around every corner, but the writing's just so good and the world's just so fun and the story's just so magical and...
Ahem.

Harry Potter started out as a kid's book. Most book-reading adults who were kids at the time probably grew up with Harry. But, even though it starts out as a children's novel, it gets darker, maturing with Harry as he grows.

To be honest, if I had had ŷ when I read this for the first time, I would have given the book four stars. But, since I'd already read the whole series... Of course I went ahead and rated all the original books 5 stars! (Except for the latest installment...)

The world is so... Magical! And original, too.
We've got fractional train stations, schools filled with ghosts and moving pictures and switching staircases, spells and potions, fantastic beasts, Quidditch, wizarding history, a plentiful cast of characters... Everything you need for a hit magic/fantasy series.

The writing... I've already told you how great it is. Seriously, Harry Potter is so easy to read!

The story...
Let me tell you, it is full of epic twists and turns! And also, I noticed that Ms. Rowling has a talent for conjuring mysteries... It's no wonder that that's her next series' subject.

The characters?
They were good enough to become my favorites, though, to be honest, Ron could have been a bit more colorful... Which happens later on in the series.
Harry's one of my favorite heroes, and Hermione is one of my favorite heroines.

Time to wrap this up with a couple more words...
Harry Potter is one of my favorite book series, recommend for everyone and anyone old enough to know that magic's bad.

5/5 Stars.
