Did Not Finish.
This is basically a melange of much better books: The Corrections, The Goldfinch and even a little bit of Great Expectations. There was a hint of David Foster Wallace here, too. I gave up 250 pages in because what started out as promising just turned into a boring muddle of reheated Franzen.
I might have finished it if it was 300-400 pages, but 620 is just too big of a commitment for a book this middling.
