I don't even know where to begin with The Nix. At 625 pages, this book has so much going on that it would be impossible to summarize and do it any justice. The central story line is about how Samuel Andreson-Anderson is reconnected with his estranged mother, Faye, after her bizarre attack on a politician becomes a viral sensation. Hill then takes us on a surprisingly hilarious journey into the past to explain Faye's choice to abandon her family and the impact this has on Samuel's life. But like I said, there's so much more. Hill brings to life a cast of hilariously flawed characters to unravel the history of Faye and Samuel. The supporting characters in this story are some of the best I've ever encountered. I have to mention here that I listened to this on audio and Ari Fliakos' amazing narration could have something to do with my love of Pwnage and Laura Pottsdam. His voices for them had me hysterical, I could listen to him rant as Laura forever. If you really want to finish this one but you're having trouble pushing through, try the audio!! 22 hours flew by! Also, I loved the tangents that Hill went on, such as coming together as a community to not let any cars cut into a line on a highway. I connected to that on such a real level. Spanning 45 years, this journey is a long one but well worth it.
