it was amazing
bookshelves: classics, favorites, philosophy

A beautiful book that is almost dreamlike in scope...the kind of dream you have when you think that you have found a piece to the puzzle of life. But Gibran truly has found more than one piece of the puzzle...a book that will be your friend for the rest of your life.

Tg "If you have needs and must needs have desires, make these your desires: to know the pain of too much tenderness, and to bleed willingly and joyfully: to sing a melody like a brook who sings its melody unto the night: and to build a house as if your beloved were to dwell within that house; Have you remembrances those Golden Arches that span the summits of the mind ? and If you sing and love not the singing you muffle man's ears to the voices of the day and the night; When you work you are a flute whos whispers a loving song to the men and women of the day and night : and if you bake bread with indifference, you bake a bitter bread which but feeds half man's hunger; and do not say I have met the soul walking upon a path, because the soul walks upon all paths; And how will you know Beauty, unless she be your way and your guide ? David Crumm I live near Dearborn, Michigan, the heart of one of the largest Arab communities in the U.S. In the Arab American museum there, Gibran has a special area devoted to his life and memory.
