Life of Pi

This story is about an Indian boy shipwrecked and in a lifeboat for about nine months on the Pacific Ocean with an orangatan, a hyena, and a tiger named Richard Parker. The tone is philosphical/spiritual and the story is more of an allegory reminicient of Pilgrim's Progress. It actually reminded me of a long fable like The Tortoise and the Hare. There is the literal story as well as another deeper story in which the animals are metaphors. I enjoyed the story and appreciated the writing, but I wouldn't reccomend this to someone who might be offended by an anti-Christian concept . I think the writer's message was religion works as a means to an end...regardless of the theology or even if it's true. This view obviously doesn't gel with Christian teachings.
