One of my reading goals this year is to read at least 1 book written by significant authors who died in 2016. This is the fifth book I have read this year.
Elie Wiesel died on July 2, 2016. He could have easily died much earlier than that while a prisoner in the death camps of war-time Germany.
This book is a must read found on many must read lists. I agree. The book is obviously not a happy book, but we must be reminded of what happened to Wiesel and his family so that these horrific tragedies are NEVER repeated.
The term NIGHT refers to Wiesel's many last nights: in his home, in the ghetto, in the cattle car, in each of three concentration camps: Auschwitz, Buchenwald and Birkenau.
The edition that I read contained a new preface written in a new translation by his wife, Marion
Eliezer Wiesel won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1986. His tragic story cries out to be remembered and shared.
