The Sabriel trilogy is up there with Susan Cooper's The Dark is Rising series and Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy as being one of the best all-time Young Adult fantasy series ever written, and the first book is the best. It is at once real, and fantastical (with the two worlds--perhaps predictably, separated by a wall). Magic has, honestly, never felt so real to me.
