I had high expectations for this book which was probably my own mistake. Although it was an interesting story,and it read quickly, I was disappointed in the flatness of many of the characters and the superficial dialogue. I thought Marlena was in inadequate "heroine." She seems to have no depth, and the reader never learns much about her, besides she has an abusive husband, which only proves her to be some what weak in her decision to stay with him. I also found it difficult to digest some of the dialogue that was just not believable in some situations. Overall, I thought the story was interesting, but the writing was not the quality I expected it to be. To some, this doesn't really matter, but to some, it is everything.
