Conclave

As a fan of Robert Harris, I always read his newest books..the subject matter of Conclave didn't seem to be particularly exciting.. but I thought.. well if I didn't like the book, I didn't have to finish it.
From the first page, this book grabbed me. The detail was intense. Research is obvious. I kept going to my computer to look up terms. This was not distracting; in fact it added to the experience.
Now one would wonder, what could be mysterious about the Election of a Pope? twists and turns? Yes there are Political ramifications; some directly reflecting on what we are experiencing today.Greed and Ego.. Power and Avarice.
The path of the plot is not one that anyone could ever guess..
Once again Harris has come thru with a book that takes one's attention from the first page.. A subject that is out of the ordinary and imbues it with an urgency and electricity..
The ending is totally surprising and satisfying..
