This was my first time reading one of her books in English (as an adult...) and I have to say, I was pretty underwhelmed.

Her work is so popular that I thought I'd love it but I struggled to finish. I love the "locked room trope" but felt really detached from the story and characters. Possibly due to the writing style.

I've been meaning to give her another shot but it's now been 6 years and I have yet to :/

Rachel Aranda This is one of my favorite books. It makes me sad you didn't like it more but at least you didn't hate it.

Kristen I read a slew of Agatha Christie books one year and this was one of my favorites. But maybe if it's the first one you read it wasn't what you expected?

Kelly I just finished it... and... meh.

Olivia I wasn’t too impressed with this book either. But I just finished Crooked House which I thought was much more “Agatha Christie-esk. Definitely recommend!

Robyn Oh...this was recommended as the first Agatha Christie to read. I haven’t read any of her books yet.

ʲٰí⁷ I think it depends a bit on the book. At least for me sometimes I like her books a lot, sometimes not so much. Have you read this one: /book/show/1...?

Tetiana British TV mini-series (3 episodes) is better than book, great visuals and scary music

LambchoP My gf loved Murder on the orient Express, maybe we should check this one out:)

Joana Verde I like YA and Middle Grade books, maybe I would like it ? Idk

Mary I'm so glad I'm not the only one. I felt exactly the same, cardboard characters and just meehhh writing. Glad for everybody who enjoyed it, but it's not for me.

message 11: by Edit (new) - rated it 5 stars

Edit Rasztik I think this is one of the weaker works of Christie. Maybe the Orient Express would be better for your taste?

Silvia Crooked House, you might enjoy that more

message 13: by Neha (new) - rated it 2 stars

Neha Chauhan I feel exactly the same!

Meagan I felt exactly the same! Nobody had a distinct voice, and there were too many to bother caring about.

Also not a fan of the "anyone could have done it" ending. I like my stories to have enough breadcrumbs that I could figure it out on my own if I'm smart enough.

Anais I bought this book 1 week ago and haven’t been able to pass past page 40. What is wrong with me? 😂 I’m obsessed with mysteries and thrillers and this one is not really doing it for me. It’s also my first time reading her books and her writing style kind of makes me dizzy. Don’t know if I should continue or abort the operation.
