it was amazing

There's something about this book that always makes me resolve to move to Cornwall, bake lots of bread and have an enormous flower garden, and spend the rest of my days painting huge swathes of light on the beaches. That aside, this is one book that I regularly read every six months and love each time. I don't know how to describe it. Just go read it.

Liz This!

Mary Anne Totally agreed. Lost or lent my first copy of the book so rushed out to buy another. Now I need to buy for my IPad. Love all her books. But this one has my heart.

Danielle McGaw Me too! People always look at me like I'm crazy when I tell them how attached I am to this book! This and Winter Solstice - I can read these two books over and over again. It is like visiting with old friends.

Janith Pathirage Well said. There're some characters in this book which I hate so much but that didn't stop me from giving it 5 stars. Sensational read!!

Alessandra Ferrante i feel exactly the same! thanks for sharing this!

Karissa Love it too, and reread it too! A great saga, love Penelope!

Heidi Osaki Such a true review! The images are so strong and make me want to experience it all :)

Michelle Wow! If you truly read this every six months that is a huge testament to how good this book is!

Cindy You are so right....I thought it was just me in wanting to read this book again and again. In fact....its time again!

Becki I've loved this book since I first read it many years ago. I, too, have been in love with Cornwall, and will soon finally visit. I fell in love with England by reading this wonderful novel.

Ann Manet Oh yes! The Shell Seekers, Winter Solstice and Coming Home are my favorites. I've read every book she's written but The Carousel. You just can't find anyone comparable to Rosamund Pilcher when you want to get truly lost in a lovely, comfortable, picturesque book.

Becky Love this book also. I read it every year for a few years. Read coming home. This book was so good I didn't want it to end. I also fell in love with England, Scotland because of her books.

Tina Amazing to read these comments. Ditto.

Ѳí-DZܳԲ I’ve just read it and I liked it a lot, but reading it again and again... I don’t know, there are too many books I want to read that I think I don’t have time to reread.

Laurie I just re-read it and so enjoyed it.

Becky Yes, Im going to read again soon. Used to read every year . Love Rosamunde Pilcher.

Chris This was a favorite of mine from years ago. Just finished re-reading....love it just as much now!

message 26: by Laura (new)

Laura Lane This is high praise. Adding it my book list.

Becky My favorite author

Diane C. Just finished re-reading after many years and I must say, age and acquired understanding of people and life only made me love it more!

Becky My favorite Pilcher book. Read it every year. My pen pal lives in Cornwall-in Camborne. Also Winter Solstice and Coming home

Amanda Treadwell Just finished the audiobook. I’m so sad it’s over! A wonderful story!

Cathy Crandall I read this book three times many years ago and recently reread it for the 4th time and liked it even more than ever before!!! Just such a wonderful story and I recommend it to everyone who loves to read❤️

Laurie Oh me too!

message 34: by Zhamour (new) - added it

Zhamour Sibaya Absolutely, books of the heart, replenish the soul anew everytime and must be reread! I love Cornwall and its romantic scapes, thoroughly, sadly only seen through lens of my fave stories About Time, Doc Martin and now this miniseries. I cannot wait to dig in page by page!

message 35: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn Gibson I read this book many years ago, and I loved it! Hope you enjoy as well

message 36: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn Gibson Zhamour, you mentioned Doc Martin. I have so enjoyed this series. Looking for to the new season, but understand it will be the last…
I have not seen ‘About Time.

Christine Mathieu I've read it 6 times (almost as often as my favorite Pilcher novel "Coming Home") and I also enjoy the sequel "September" and "Winter Solstice".

Denise Brown I also read this book at least once a year! It is a story that helps me reorient myself to what types of things I enjoy and how I want to spend my time.
I so wish I could find other authors like R. Pilcher!

Christine Mathieu Try Nicholas Sparks, Douglas Kennedy, Luanne Rice, Nancy Thayer, Judith Lennox, "Dancing at the Harvest Moon" by K. C. KcKinnon, "A Peculiar Chemistry" by Kitty Ray.
There are lots of older novels from the 1980's and 1990's which have so much more class/style than what's written these days.

Anne Booth Beautiful book, total escapism into a world that I remembered as a child. It reminded me of my mum and the simple joys of life. To be reminded of what is important. Definitely one of my favourite reads.
