1.) Assassin's Apprentice ★★★★

i really just love fitz a lot and i am really hard pressed to think of a character who i really am rooting for more than fitzchivalry. in this second installment in this first realm of the elderlings series, we get to see him truly becoming an adult and continuing writing his story about his time at the ancient fortress, buckkeep.

the red ship raiders are still (you guessed it) raiding the towns and villages on the coast of the six dutchies. verity, the king in waiting, is trying to do everything he can to keep the attacks from happening, but meanwhile, back in the castle, king shrewd is very ill and becoming more ill as the days pass. and regal is� being regal. all while fitz is still healing from what he did to him in book one (while also trying to be the best assassin he can).

but in this book we get to see so much more of the fool, which i loved. and we get to meet nighteyes, who has my whole heart actually. and we also get to see fitz navigate through love, which was really something i was not anticipating but it was sweet and really felt like first love to me.

and, as always, i loved every scene with burrich, chade, patience. i really mean it when i say that no one is writing a cast of characters like robin hobb. i absolutely cannot wait for assassin's quest.
