I don't like the writing style.
Some of the things Brian did (making an entire raft, making a storage compartment which he never used) didn't make sense to me. Why didn't he just float out on a single log? Why not smoke fish and meat to prepare for winter or an accident?
But it's not a bad book, despite the bits of swearing.
