I got realllll tired of the sexism and misogyny by that point and had to put it down.

Loved it as well, only a bit long sometimes.. could have been more “efficient� and it didn’t need to be that long.. but great story overall :) Bonne lecture !
Unfortunately this didn‘t work for me because of the sexism and treatment of women. Years after reading it I remember nothing from the book. Really wish I had enjoyed it but alas.
The trilogy is wonderful on audio!

I'm shocked that you rated this book so high. Normally, you're very perceptive of things like sexism and homophobia but it was not the case with this book. They were just too much for me. I don't like the way that women and the gay character are portrayed in this book. All of the adult men made casually sexist comments towards women and it made me wonder if men were really like that back then or if the author simply chose to make every character like that. Overall, it was a very disappointing read.
I'm surprised to see that you loved this book but would call something like Crime and Punishment "sexist"
