** spoiler alert ** This story just didn't live up to the hype for me. It has some excellent moments, and there are times when you're drawn into the story and it's engrossing, but then it is let down but rambling text. There are too many chapters of just nonsense. Descriptive passages that aren't interesting or driving the story, more just off shoots that wind up nowhere.

There's a whole chapter about a video game addict quitting, having withdrawals and going back to playing, and it's predictable and just rubbish. I skipped so much of his book because it had no relevance.

It took me a long time to read because I was determined to finish. I read three other books in between because I had to take breaks from The Nix.

There are a lot of points of view and chapters on characters that came out interesting, but the problem was there was so much padding that by the time I got to the end and there were reflections on some of the characters, I'd actually forgotten they were part of the story!

Anyway. Not for me.
