This easy to read simple short book, took me several weeks to finish as I just kept setting it down, it was 'ok-to good' at best, but not great like everyone is talking about. I found it way over hyped (maybe because of the movie? or are we just over hyping sad books about dogs lately?) and I love dogs and am a dog person. My 8th-grade son read it in 3 days and just loved it. I did like the reincarnation aspect of the story and this book did make me wonder about if my own dog has had other lives and his purpose. If your looking for an excellent tear jerker dog read then "The art of racing in the Rain" is your book.
