Rating Scale: 4 Stars
4: "Wow, I want to know what happens next! This author is great! That was totally satisfying, but it could have been better in terms of some minor things: pacing, characters, details."
Nahs: What didn’t you like?
- Dennis kind of fell out of a great chunk of the middle of the novel.
- A bit drawn out in some unnecessary side stories. I wish we could have more Dennis and Leigh. Seems to have a lot of details on things that don't matter or a repeat of things we already know as the reader.
Aahs: What did you like?
- How they kept seeing dead people.
- There were some great supporting characters. They had depth too and not just the main characters.
The theme for this one is hard to put my finger on. Besides don't buy a used car?? I guess don't let your desire and love of possessions possess you ;)
Stephen King wrote hilarious, relatable, fun story full of imagery as usual. His work brings to life the story and the characters. Each chapter began with a quote from a famous oldie about cars! These songs brought the story even more to life. If I were to make a list of all the songs in this book, it would be ridiculous and take me forever. If you like that kinda thing, this book is for you!
The tone of this book is rather sad. The ending is not happy at all, so prepare yourself. There is an epilogue that makes the ending suck even more. I think that's why I was so quickly to not give this book five stars. (That doesn't make me the best reviewer, probably, but I don't care.)
Uniqueness Scale:
4 - New and refreshing!
Recommend?: Only to Stephen King readers. This book may be a bit of a drag for some or so I've heard. But really, even though there were extra details, I still enjoy a good old King novel! If you're already a King fan, you will still enjoy it.
