did not like it

Ok, (sigh deeply), I need to do this. I need to write about it. Whatever resides in me (and in the hearts of the million/ trillion readers out there) needs to be said.

1) Dystopian literature- Read James Dashner and Veronica Roth for that matter already. The Handmaid's Tale is surviving because of all the hype that has been created around it; courtesy of the Netflix/ Amazon Prime Series. (Haven't seen it and not planning either.)

2) Women always? - Is there a trend in such kind of literature that I am observing from a long time? What's the difference between Handmaid's, surrogate mothers, female escorts, Jezebel's workers when all it is expected out of them is sex, procreation and just be the 'chalice' or 'vessels' for more kids?

3) Lockdown alert - Not recommended for any season, mood or even your precious money (until and unless you want to set fire on that particular amount and regret later like me). Especially during the lockdown/ pandemic period, this read is going to pull you into depression. Binge-watch 'Loki'! It will save you and entertain you too.

4) What's with the hype and feminism? - Seriously! What is it people don't get when they talk about 'feminism'? It is not at all focused totally on females, women or feminity. Men, males and masculinity are equally an important component of it but the authoress is totally focused on showing offred in red light.

5) What was the aim? - I am still scratching my head for that answer. Are we not aware of the miserable conditions of men, women, kids, young and old in the world today? She's trying to create a world where some ambiguous 'religion' will take over the USA and uproot the current democratic government. Woman, not one religion, but several kinds have possessed human mind from the stone age, don't you think? It doesn't need to actually capture a particular country in the upcoming future to show its hold and power.

6) literature and science - "We will have flying cars in the future," -- Handmaid's Tale -- "Our country is going to be captured by some religious group in the future. We will go back to the stone age," How is this thinking relevant?

7) Grammar - I thought she's deliberately writing in that manner. It dawned on me in the middle of the book that this kind of writing is so hard for a normal reader to decipher. The changes in tenses, from present to past and vice-versa is so hard to follow. Heard about a term known as punctuation, dear? (inverted commas, commas, full stop?)
