This book was such a disappointment. The plot and situation presented were creative and had so much potential, but were executed poorly. The narrative straggled back and forth between a glib, YA feel, to bizarrely dark and surreal. The characters were so basically drawn that it was hard to get a real feel for them or what motivated their actions. I never really felt connected with anyone - a basic necessity in evoking fear in a reader. Hex succeeded with gross, failed with scary. The end was such a jumble that I was reading the last few pages solely to get them over with. Blech.
