Oops I hit post by mistake. As I was saying, I do remember that a lot of what you read would have been common, at the time of publication. They probably don't hold up well anymore, unless you are a member of the over 50 crowd.
It was pretty standard behavior for the time period of the story. I believe readers who are "triggered" by certain behaviors should avoid all historical romance. Do you think they understand that it's fiction
It's fiction. If you don't understand that going into the story, Ramona the Pest is more your cup o' tea.
