Tried again w/ the audio. That experience improved my evaluation a bit. But really, this is so heavy-handed and unlikely that imo it becomes cliched drivel, almost as bad as the author's Winn-Dixie. I can see that parents & other adults think it's good for kids, and might enjoy it themselves, but do kids really like it? My inner child resents being talked down to & preached at.
