rereading, ACOWAR started off slower than i remembered, and it lacked the page-turning quality ACOMAF had (save for the end, of course). i think what SJM is best at is bringing/tying together everything introduced earlier in the series for an explosive ending. some of her most emotional, heartwarming, and devastating scenes can all be found in her conclusions, whether it's the conclusion to one book or an entire series. there's a formula she sticks to, and it must be effective if it gets me every time, even if i'm rereading, and even if the conclusions to kingdom of ash (TOG #7) and ACOWAR were more or less the same.
this book brought back good memories, and i'll forever love the relationships between the inner circle and the archeron sisters, but proved that ACOMAF was the peak of the ACOTAR series.

"sjm fools you by calling it a "high lord meeting" when in reality it's just a bunch of politically screaming children using 8th grade retorts to get back at each other. like wow sjm should write contemporary fiction i almost mistook that meeting for the u.s. government."
