Finally, a YA where the romance is kept as a subplot. The pacing felt off at times, and there were some things I thought could've been elaborated on. That said, it's a really good book. I didn't love it, but I'll be picking up the rest from the library to see what other schemes Jude comes up with.

"Really appreciate how resourceful Jude is. She's completely in denial about liking Cardan, which I get considering everything, and focuses on more important things. I really like how the book centers primarily on political intrigue and that any romance is pushed waaaaaaay into the background and likely won't even develop until later in the series."
