Les Misérables

I FINALLYYYYYY finished this novel. It took forever between work and everything else that I had to do. I think its been about 2 1/2 weeks since I started reading it, but I'm finished!! I have to say that it is one of the best books I have ever read. Hugo really knows how to wrap you up in the character, make you love them, hate them, or even both sometimes. Javert was a love/hate character for me. My favorite character was definately Jean Valjean. His journey from hardened convict, to near "sainthood" was wonderful to be a part of. I checked this out from my local library, but I will be buying it for my bookshelf very soon. My only complaints are the drawn out "commercial breaks" (as I have come to call them) where Hugo goes into great detail about something hardly relevant to the story for pages and pages and pages...These passages usually have something to do with French history, or the people of France. But they were worth plowing through to get back to the main story.
