I was tempted to write that Patti Smith's memoir, was "just so-so," but the closer I got to its final pages the more poetic & poignant Just Kids became. As he lay dying, Robert Mapplethorpe beseeched Smith to tell their story. Twenty years later, she honors that promise. At times repetitious, at other times a bit boring......yet ultimately moving.
