Career of Evil (Cormoran Strike, #3)

It seems to be consensus of reviewers here that this is the best Strike novel to date, I wholeheartedly agree with this assessment. However, I had to take one star off because of the gratuitous blood and creepiness, which just seemed unnecessary. The book does get a little slow at times as Strike and Robin follow three seemingly unconnected suspects, but the twist that brings all the narrative threads together is one most readers won't see coming. Given the great buildup in the final third of the novel, the ending is shockingly disappointing. I will always believe Matthew is a wanker, I guess I can hold a grudge for a lot longer than Robin.
